Surf - Whitby: Reviews & Ratings
Really great local spot! The drinks and food were fantastic, super cute location. Limited menu but nothing disappointed, everything we had was beyond delicious. Highly recommend to anyone! Will be back soon !
Stopped by on my way through Whitby for takeout and tried their caprese and jackfruit tacos. They were flavourful and worth the stop in! The pesto on the caprese was incredible! Will be back to try more.
This restaurant is so quaint and beautifully decorated. I was impressed upon my entry to the establishment. It gives you the feel of being somewhere exotic. The food and service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Regarding the food, I started with a Blood Orange margarita which was good, but I couldn't taste much of the blood orange. Nonetheless, it was still a nice drink. My friends and I shared guacamole, street corn and chips which were amazing. Especially, the street corn! For my next meal, I had the birria tacos. They were very good. I would definitely come back here again, especially for the ambiance. I should note, that I gave it an overall score of 4 because of the pricing. The prices are a bit steep for the amount of food you receive.
Great date night spot No reservations on Friday for parties of 2, we got there maybe at 615 and within 10 minutes you had to wait for a seat, plan accordingly!!! Great portion, just the right amount of food to fill you up lol The street corn, fish taco, and carnitas were all bangers, 10/10 would recommend
What a ride! Had a great dinner out at Surf the other night! Back patio is cute AF. We ordered 2 drinks (cocktails and beer) each, plus a load of food to share. Everything is so delicious (that Pollo taco eh??) and fresh. Can't wait to drink margaritas on the sunny patio again! Yay!
The food and drinks were good. It was pretty busy, so service wasn’t the greatest (understandably). The menu is pretty limited, but honesty the food was soooo good it was worth it. Also there is a paid parking lot at the back.
We had a pretty underwhelming experience. The drink menu was lacking, and they surprisingly didn't have Caesars. Service was slow-paced, and our visit dragged on for almost 2 hours. But the biggest issue was the ear-shattering noise level – it was so loud from all the chatter that we could barely hear the music playing in the background. We had to practically yell at each other just to be heard, which made conversation really tough. On the plus side, the ambiance was nice, and the murals were really cool. However, the seating was a major letdown – the chairs were super uncomfortable and hard, leaving literal imprints on our butts. I ordered the olives, Brussels sprouts, and Birra tacos. The Brussels sprouts were the standout – perfectly charred and seasoned. However, the olives didn't live up to their 'habanero' description, and the tacos were overly greasy and chewy.
We've been waiting to try Surf for quite a while and we were very pleased with our experience overall! The service was great; very attentive and quick. We were able to order once we were ready, had drink refills throughout dinner and the staff were very polite. The food was great too. We had the brussel sprouts and guacamole to start. Both were amazing. The portions for the apps were huge too - we didn't finish either appetizer even though two of us were sharing. For our meals we got tacos as they were recommended, and rightfully so. We had chicken and carnitas. Both were amazing. Dessert was Churos, one with vanilla and one with coconut ice cream. Both great. Vanilla was our favourite :) I highly recommend Surf and it's an amazing addition so some great restaurants in downtown Whitby!!
